Fantastic Island!

For some reason DreamWorks likes to be up and down. They're capable of releasing gorgeous films like The Wild Robot , but also release nonsense like Gabby's Play House . Their latest release centers on Filipino BFFs Jo and Raisa, the latter of which reveals she's heading to the US for college. The duo suddenly find themselves on the forgotten island of Nakali. This movie was fantastic. It is so over-the-top in all the best ways possible. This is the perfect example of representation done properly. It's not trying too hard nor is it overly reliant on these characters being women of color. These girls (Jo especially) are extremely relatable and likable. Jo's struggles such as dealing with change, abandonment issues, feeling like she doesn't matter in the world, etc. is something many of us can relate to. The girls appeal to spectators in a universal way and don't feel forced at all.  It introduces the audience to Philippine mythology in a fun, playful and vibr...

Big Releases For October 2026

So what movies are we seeing this year for Halloween;   Digger - Friday Not seeing this, no one's gonna make me. I'm quite surprised at its mixed reactions so far. It did just receive its RT score and it's not good. Maybe the audience will respond better, but right now it's hard to say. The Social Reckoning - Oct 9 Also not seeing this for reasons similar to Digger . I honestly see critics applauding this and the audience hating it, but that's just wishful thinking. And did The Social Network really need a sequel? Other Mommy - Oct 9 Seriously, I thought Coraline took care of this already😂! But yeah I'm most likely going to see this. It appears to be getting decent buzz from spectators so far, so I see this probably doing decently at the box-office. We'll see with critics. Whalefall - Oct 16 First he's stuck in a zombie apocalypse and now he gets eaten by a whale, Austin Abrams is having a rough year😂. I also intend on seeing this movie as well. I'...

Billboard

Let's Get This Over With; Secular Music; Bby Wow - Karol G With Judeline & rusowsky https://naesnotlikeyou.blogspot.com/2026/09/billboard.html   Your Glory 2 C U - Earnest Pugh This is a good example of a worship song trying too hard to bring the spirit into the room, that's pretty much what I felt upon listening to this song. It also didn't help that Pugh went extremely overboard with the vocal dynamics, which were impressive but empty. So yeah, not a fan of this one.  Thanks For Reading Facebook-https://www.facebook.com/naomi.chadwick.58/ X-@ChadwickNa28887 Email-naenotlikeyou@gmail.com Instagram-https://www.instagram.com/ihearttop123/ YouTube Playlist (Secular)- Link YouTube Playlist (Worship)- Link

My Very First Resident Evil Movie!

I don't play video games, I know very little about the Resident Evil games. I am somewhat familiar with the movies and that most of them aren't good. For a long time this franchise was cursed with bad movies, until now. From the director of Weapons , this rendition of Resident Evil centers on a medical courier who makes the mistake of bringing a package to a VERY infected Racoon City. Yeah this movie was awesome, I liked it way more than I expected. And If you remember from my "September 2026 Releases" post, I was skeptical about seeing this and I am so glad I gave it a shot. This is probably the ugliest virus I have ever seen, even during the early stages because of how unhinged the infected become. While the movie was indeed terrifying, it was also strangely versatile as it was comical when it wanted to be (which was most of the time) but also heartbreaking when it needed to be. A lot of that is credited to Austin Abrams, who we'll talk about later. This movie ...

Well, She Tried🫤🤷🏾‍♀️

So why did Hollywood think it was a good idea to release 2 movies called "Runner" around the same time? Though the difference is one of them stars Jack Reacher and released to theaters, while the other stars probably the worst actress of a generation and released to Amazon Prime. In The Runner , Gal Gadot runs for her son's life when he is kidnapped by Damien Lewis. I have heard almost no good things about this movie aside from it being short. However I tried not to let that cloud my own judgment upon finally watching this. But unfortunately people are right, this is very bad. The problem is this movie tries way too hard to be intense when it's mostly just running and talking. And whenever it actually did get intense it was either briefly or extremely over-the-top.  Pretty much everything was poorly executed. Mainly the plot twist, which I was aware of before hand due to other reviews. Not only was it obviously impossible and unrealistic for the protagonist to pull of...

Robin Hood Is Pissed😬

So I ended up seeing this with my dad last Sunday after he expressed also having interest in this I think about 2 weeks prior. My favorite Spider-Man Andrew Garfield stars as a humble ploughman (later identified as Robin Hood) who kick starts a rebellion known as the Peasants Revolt across the nation. The movie was decent. I wasn't completely blown away, but there were some moments of truth in the movie that I agreed with. The film did deliver on the action, which was brutal but memorable, and the performances were relatively solid (Garfield couldn't do a bad performance even if he tried). There was a lot of shaky cam, so I will admit there were times where I didn't really understand what was going on due to all the shakiness. And I do understand if viewers were caught off-guard with the sudden connection to Robin Hood as it did feel a little bit like it came out of nowhere. But overall, I'm good with the film. Practical Magic Review

I'm not the biggest fan of the original Practical Magic . I don't hate it or anything, it's a relatively cute and harmless film (sort of). I didn't realize that it was based on a book that eventually got a sequel in 2021, so I guess Hollywood decided that meant the movie needed a sequel as well. Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as the Owens sister set off to save Bullock's daughter. The biggest issue with the movie was that it basically undid all the progress from the first one. It literally begins with Bullock erasing her daughters' memories of magic. "Rehash" sequels is obviously a recurring issue in Hollywood (this year in particular) and this is probably one of the worst examples. It makes me wonder if the production team even tried to come up with a new story. The film did do a few things differently, but just barely. I also was very annoyed with Bullock's character throughout the film. I felt like she was unnecessarily ma...
