Nae's Not Like You

This movie went through A LOT! Getting pulled from theaters, the leak, the limited theater release, the push-forward date; it was absolutely ridiculous. Well it's finally out and about (legally anyway), and we've finally witnessed whether or not it was all worth it. 13 years after the events of the original series, Aang and his friends find themselves dumb-founded when they discover yet another frozen airbender and learn of a staff that can grant non-benders the ability to airbend. As a both a longtime fan of Avatar and a critic, I loved this movie. Obviously the animation is gorgeous and I am so sorry for the inconvenience the animators experienced throughout this entire process of getting this film made. I do hope they are still proud of what they've made. This movie does have some nostalgia bait but it's not overly reliant on that. And the team, though older and wiser, still remain their old selves. Trying to see  The Invite was kind of a hassle due to lack of access and finding the time to see it. I finally ended up seeing this last Friday. Literally only staring 4 people (the 4 you see in the picture above), Olivia Wilde (who's also the film's director) throws a sort-of last minute dinner party for her strange neighbors Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, much to her husband Seth Rogen's annoyance. The movie was very good and EXTREMELY well acted. The film takes place in literally one location and could've easily become super boring. But the clever directing and strong performances from the actors kept that from happening. Considering Wilde's last project ( Don't Worry Darling 👎🏾) completely and deservedly crashed and burned, It's a miracle this movie turned out as good as it did. Another Billboard ; Secular Music; Dai Dai - Shakira & Burna Boy https://naesnotlikeyou.blogspot.com/2026/07/todays-billboard.html   Open My Eyes - Ron Carter & Ricky Dillard The song was fine enough. I appreciate that it was a relatively traditional gospel song with strong harmonies (like pretty much all of Dillard' s library). But overall the song is nothing really special. It's enjoyable enough, but not amazing in any way. So I read The Odyssey in high school and while I do remember enjoying the story, I barely remember any of it aside from Odysseus being gone for a long time, his wife fighting off a bunch of creeps and the cyclops getting stabbed in the eye. This is obviously Christopher Nolan's interpretation of the story. And he brought one Hell of a cast with him.  I originally had high expectations for this movie until the controversies (more on that later, sort of), that caused me to believe that I was most likely going to hate the movie despite its qualities like I do with Zootopia . I Was Wrong, This Movie Was AWESOME And I Loved Every Bit Of It (Almost)! Granted, I was also stressed out pretty much the entire time as well. This movie was like a ticking time bomb, but also very well balanced between the action scenes and the tender moments. The film knew when to draw me in with the strong acting (not a single bad performance; all-star cast, what do you expect?) and when to keep me on the edge...

This Week on Billboard ;   Dai Dai - Shakira & Burna Boy We're in the middle of the World Cup, what do you expect? Plus Shakira has a knack for creating hit songs for the World Cup with Dare being my favorite. This song is fun enough, but nothing special for me personally.   Right There - Lasha Knox Ft. Earnest Pugh I liked this more than I expected. The melody of the chorus is my favorite thing about the song as well as it's inversion (albeit short). Knox didn't do much to elevate the song, but overall a pleasant surprise. Well done. So my sister has been raving about this album for a while now and urged me to listen to it myself and give it a review. The only reason I won't do a traditional review is because If I post a review for one album, I might be expected to post more. So instead I'm gonna rank every single song from this album from my least favorite to the best. I'm not gonna say "worst" because there's not really a bad song on this album. Pretty self-explanatory;   Dracula - Tame Impala First off; perfect song for Halloween. Second; I found the song to be slightly cheesy. I'm still deciding if that's a bad thing or a good thing. I think overall I have mixed feelings for this song. Not sure if I like it, though I'm not sure if I hate it either.   Worthy Of It All (Worthy) - Cece Winans This song was actually on Cece's album  Believe For It  5 years ago. Considering my church has covered it a few times, I'm guessing the song got pretty popular in its own right for Cece to re-do it.
