The Most Awkward Dinner Party EVER!!!!!!☹️


Trying to see The Invite was kind of a hassle due to lack of access and finding the time to see it. I finally ended up seeing this last Friday. Literally only staring 4 people (the 4 you see in the picture above), Olivia Wilde (who's also the film's director) throws a sort-of last minute dinner party for her strange neighbors Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, much to her husband Seth Rogen's annoyance.

The movie was very good and EXTREMELY well acted. The film takes place in literally one location and could've easily become super boring. But the clever directing and strong performances from the actors kept that from happening. Considering Wilde's last project (Don't Worry Darling👎🏾) completely and deservedly crashed and burned, It's a miracle this movie turned out as good as it did.

The awkwardness stemmed from the obviously unhappy marriage of Rogen and Wilde and the exotic activities of Cruz and Norton. If one couple wasn't arguing, then the other would expose either disturbing or heartbreaking facts about themselves. The dialogue of the film also felt natural and organic. This film was very well balanced and well paced.

I give this movie a thumbs up👍🏾. Thanks For Reading

So.......The Bride😕

So I was completely off-track with The Bride . Did not expect the film to crash and burn as hard as it did with both critics AND the box-office. After getting murdered, a woman by the name of Ida is brought back to life with the intention of being a companion to the oh-so iconic Frankenstein. And together they wreck havoc. Like Wuthering Heights , the movie wasn't terrible but it had a lot of problems. The biggest issue with this film is that it tries way too hard to be edgy and it just doesn't work. It wanted to be this hardcore feminist take on Frankenstein , but it just felt convoluted and slightly underwritten. It had this plotline involving Ida causing some revolution for women and did pretty much nothing with it until the last minute. It was kind of a let down. The best thing about the movie however was the performances and chemistry between Buckley and Christian Bale.
