That Was Messed Up

Funny story about “Sound Of Freedom”. I was originally going to see it with my choir. However, I developed a headache, so I passed. I finally saw it with my aunt last week. The movie centers on Tim Ballard, who’s a U.S. government agent on a mission to save a little girl and a buttload of other kids from sex trafficking, which is dominant in Columbia.

Please don’t be misled by the title of this article. The movie was great, but the subject matter is MESSED UP! And it wasted no time showing how messed up trafficking really is (seriously folks, pray for these kids). It did not hold anything back on how horrifying this is, how sick it is and the effect it has on the kids, the parents, and almost anyone involved in preventing it, which is both the best and the saddest thing about the movie. The action and suspension in this film was also very well done. Honestly, its deep dive into the subject is what made it so suspenseful, as you really want this dude to succeed in saving these kids. The performances were also good, particularly that of Jim Caviezel. While I personally see it as an action film at its core, this film does have some faith in it and was produced by a faith-based studio (the same studio behind “The Chosen”). As a Christian, it should come as no surprise that I deeply appreciate this and I like that this was also filmed in a way that will attract non-Christian audiences as well. The faith element of this movie is basically showcasing what happens when God gives you a task. Ballard had a lot of setbacks in this movie (I don’t know if this was the case in real life) and nearly had to abort multiple times, but he refused. I basically saw it as God saying, “trust Me, ‘cause I’m not finished with you yet”. In other words, when God tells you to do something, DO IT! This is just what I see as a Christian. If others see it differently, that’s fine. I’m not going to give this favoritism for being a faith-based film, but I am rooting for it at the box-office, which turned out to be a surprise success. And I am very happy for the movie. The only reason I won’t root for it in the award season is because that’s too good to be true. Thanks for reading.

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
