American Idol 2025 Thoughts: Day 1

American Idol has officially reached its live shows so that means it's time to start the commentaries. For those of you who didn't track these last year, here's an explanation; I will be saying my thoughts on the contestants and their performances. In typical 'me' fashion, I will rank each performance to #1. But unlike my normal lists, this will be from worst to best. This will be starting the following week as today is just an introduction.

Our Top 24 has been chosen and they are as follows;

Canaan James Hill (Platinum)            Gabby Simone

 Zaylie Windsor                        Mattie Pruitt

 Thunderstorm Artis                 Drew Ryn

 Che                                                Penny Samar

 Grayson Torrence              MKY

 Josh King                          Amanda Barise

 Victor Solomon                           Kyana Fanene

 Slater Nalley                              Baylee Littrell

 John Foster                        Filo (Platinum)

 Kolbi Jordan (Platinum)     Isaiah Misailegalu

 Olivier Bergeron                         Desmond Roberts

 Jamal Roberts        Breanna Nix

Here's a division of where I stand on these contestants in the form of Loves, Likes, and Meh/I Don't Cares;

Loves:

Canaan- can SANG his butt off and loves God with no shame
Amanda- won me over during Hollywood Week
Baylee- also won me over. Has NOTHING to do with his dad
Jamal- also won me over

Likes:

Gabby- talented, though slightly annoying
Drew- I like her voice
Che- nice voice
Josh- awkward but endearing
Victor- low range is impressive
Filo- I understand why he got the platinum
Kolbi- talented but has bad habits and is the weakest of the platinum trio
Isaiah- nice voice
Desmond- SUPER HIGH range, but also developed bad habits
Breanna- she's growing on me

Meh/I Don't Care:

Zaylie- she's fine, that's it
Mattie- kind of boring
Thunderstorm- he seems like a nice guy though
Penny- be careful with your facial expressions
Grayson- she's fine, that's it
MKY- a little bit too cheesy for me
Kyana- also boring but more memorable than Mattie
Slater- not impressed, but sweet kid
John- again, boring
Olivier- our French connection

Oldest Contestant- Thunderstorm (29)
Youngest Contestant- Mattie (15)
Best Girl- Amanda
Best Boy- Canaan
Favorite Contestant- Canaan

Starting next week, I will be ranking each performance from worst to best. If a song I feel uncomfortable with is covered, I will skip the ranking and just say the best and worst performance. Once people start going home, they will not be included in the ranking.

Introduction

Bio My name is Naomi Marie Elidios Chadwick. I was born in San Diego, California, but I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I pretty much have a traditional family, which involves happily married parents, 1 younger sister, and an older brother. I was raised Christian, and I continue to practice Christianity to this day. This is not a spiritual blog but some of the content that I post is influenced by my faith. Every now and then I will post Christian content as well, just not always (except with Billboard ). The picture you see up above is me at the airport with my father after I graduated from AmeriCorps NCCC after 10 months of community service. In response I received a congressional award for community service. I've always been really proud of that. I was diagnosed with Asperger's (a form of Autism) around the age of 6, but I was not informed of my diagnosis until I was 12. I'm very into movies and television (animation especially), and pop culture as a whole, and I...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
