Ronald Regan remains one of our nations most notable presidents and this is the second presidential film released by Angel Studios this year following Young Washington last month. Set during the Cold War, Brink Of War centers on Regan meeting up with Mikhail Gorbachev in hopes of finding hollow ground in terms of nukes.
The movie is decent at best. And though I only see it as decent, it is not due to lack of quality accept when it comes to one aspect that we will discuss later. Almost everything about the movie was very solid. It's mostly just talking, so for some people it might get a little boring. But the film makes up for that with its strong acting, decent writing and relevant themes. This cast is actually pretty packed, with Jeff Daniels, J.K. Simmons and more.
The only aspect of this film that felt unneeded was the storyline involving the wives. It felt slightly half-baked and there really wasn't much of a reason for this to be included in the film. Not that the first ladies don't deserve some spotlight, but if they're gonna get some it needs to serve some type of purpose to the plot. That unfortunately was not the case here.
