Awkward Romance🤷🏾‍♀️

I'm my effort to make sure I watch more less than great movies after not having enough from last year, I decided to give Netflix's new rom-com a shot. Jennifer Lopez plays a CEO who finds herself attracted to her new lawyer (Roy Kent....I mean Brett Goldstein). Due to the company's work policy, they try to fight off their attraction towards each other. Though they eventually give in, which leads to problematic results.

I thought the movie was bland. It's wasn't terrible, but there was nothing really special about it either. Though I will admit that I did find Lopez and Goldstein cute together, and there were moments in this film that I did find romantic and heartwarming. I will also admit there were  some moments in the movie that were genuinely funny. But regardless, I didn't think anything decent in this film really stood out. The things that did stand out in this movie unfortunately were all either lackluster or negative.

For starters; this movie was slightly over-reliant on sex jokes. And pretty much all of them were either too inappropriate (for me anyway) or got old very quickly. Along with that, I absolutely HATED Betty Gilpin's character. She was extremely obnoxious and I wanted to slap her most of the time. The scene of her giving birth was easily the worst moment of the film and another example of the film's jokes being too inappropriate. And I didn't even think there was much of a point in making her character pregnant if she was just going to remain obnoxious and unlikable after having the baby, making the scene kind of pointless in my humble opinion.

I also found the ending climax of the film to be lackluster. I didn't expect it to be amazing or grand, but at the same time I still found the end result to be relatively dull and unmemorable. And lastly, I don't think it's fair for Goldstein's character to be criticized for keeping his life private. If there are certain aspects of his life that he does not want to disclose, he is entitled to that, and I don't think the movie really respects that.

The movie was pretty forgettable, but not the worst. Thanks For Reading

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

So.......The Bride😕

So I was completely off-track with The Bride . Did not expect the film to crash and burn as hard as it did with both critics AND the box-office. After getting murdered, a woman by the name of Ida is brought back to life with the intention of being a companion to the oh-so iconic Frankenstein. And together they wreck havoc. Like Wuthering Heights , the movie wasn't terrible but it had a lot of problems. The biggest issue with this film is that it tries way too hard to be edgy and it just doesn't work. It wanted to be this hardcore feminist take on Frankenstein , but it just felt convoluted and slightly underwritten. It had this plotline involving Ida causing some revolution for women and did pretty much nothing with it until the last minute. It was kind of a let down. The best thing about the movie however was the performances and chemistry between Buckley and Christian Bale. I thought they were strangely endearing, and this might be a better love story than Wuthering Heights  (...
