Look, I'm sorry for being rude here but if you have a crush on someone and they don't like you back, get the Hell over it and move on! At least that's the lesson I took away from watching this movie. In Obsession, a loser by the name of Bear has a crush on his childhood friend Nikki. Upon purchasing a wish stick, he wishes she would "love him more than anyone in the world". And let's just say it worked a little too well.
This movie was disturbing on so many levels. It went to such dark places you can't even imagine. The things that girl would do throughout the movie as a result of that stupid wish were so insane and unhinged. She could be standing still doing nothing and it would turn into something horrifying or disgusting. Most of her actions weren't even traditionally scary, just downright disturbing, and that's probably what I liked the most about the movie. That aspect could've easily become boring, but the way Curry Baker (the director) executed this was brilliant (and unnervingπ£). He knew how to use that aspect to his advantage as Nikki grew more and more insane and Bear witnesses the consequences of the horrible (and idiotic) mistake he's made, which straight up ruined Nikki's life as well as his own and several others. The film was just unsettling from start to finish, and will leave you with that feeling long after the movie's over.
I have never watched Superman & Lois, so I was not familiar with Inde Navarrette prior to the movie. With all due respect to both her and the show, I'm convinced she's too good for the latter after watching this movie as she was a total PSYCHO!!!!!!!!!!!! Her facial expressions are what stood out the most to me. They were so animated but in a creepy way. She freaked me out the second she was under control of that wish. And even during scenes where she was absent, her presence was felt and you knew something was gonna go SUPER WRONG. Navarrette's acting was THAT impactful and now I'm hoping she got serious therapy after this. Well Done ππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎππΎ.
This movie was absolutely fantastic, but I will never look at cats the same way ever againπ¬. This is currently my second favorite movie of the year (Project Hail Mary remains the first). Thanks For Reading
