The Devil Wears Prada really did not need a sequel. Especially considering most sequels and remakes now adays disrespect the the original source material. When Anne Hathaway gets fired unexpectedly, she returns to the now fading Runway. Meryl Streep is still "the devil", Emily's overdramatic butt works at Dior now, and Stanley Tucci is still the MVP.
For a movie that did not need to exist in the first place, this was actually pretty good. It wasn't anything amazing or special, but It didn't really need to be anyway. It stayed true to the spirit of the original and didn't try to downplay it in any way. It is relatively a rehash of the first movie, but a rehash done well. Meryl Streep was just as ruthless yet sympathetic as she was in the previous movie, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci were good, and Emily Blunt is still a drama queen. The newer characters didn't really stand out a lot, but I did like B.J. Novak's character and Justin Theroux was a complete moron.
On the flip side, the movie didn't really do much with Andy's love interest and I was not a fan of what little they did with the Rachel Bloom storyline as well.
But overall, I liked the movie. It was not amazing by any means, but I was far from disappointed. Thanks For Reading
