Top 10 Pathetic TV Characters

I kind of do not really know how to properly explain this list. I guess these are a group of TV characters that I feel are constantly dumped on by either life or other characters specifically due to either their own poor decisions or their lives just suck. The characters who constantly give us secondhand embarrassment whenever they appear, and even annoy us from time to time.

#10: Janine Teagues- Abbott Elementary

Look, Janine’s a nice girl. She truly cares about the kids, her school, and her colleagues. But she is probably one of the corniest characters I have ever witnessed on television. She has a tendency to be a little too sappy with her co-workers when they clearly could not care less (with the exception of Gregory and Jacob, the latter also being a strong contender for this list) and can be slightly overbearing when it comes to improving the school. Her dorky nature is also signified by her terrible taste in clothing (earlier seasons especially). Seriously, sometimes it got to the point where it was physically painful watching Janine do just about anything. While I do believe she has relatively improved, her corny nature is still very sad to watch. But on the bright side, her and Gregory can be pathetic together.

#9: Susan Mayer- Desperate Housewives

Susan has gotten a lot of hate over the years, most of them for good reasons. To make myself clear; I am not a fan of Edie. But I will admit that Susan is kind of annoying. Her awkward and clumsy nature has gotten her into some of the dumbest shenanigans. One of her worst being getting stuck outside her house naked. She also had a tendency to play the victim (in my opinion) and made several selfish decisions throughout the show (final season especially). I’m also offended by her inability to make proper mac & cheese, That Is DISRESPECTFUL! You also know someone is pathetic when her pre-teen daughter is more mature than the mother. This character is so pathetic that even her actress (Teri Hatcher) was shown to be disliked by her castmates.

#8: Matt Donovan- The Vampire Diaries

My aunt appears to have a soft spot for this character, and even she sees him as pathetic. If my understanding is correct, Matt does have some hate in the VD fanbase for several reasons. Apparently he’s kind of whiny and often acts like he’s tougher than he actually is. Don’t get me wrong, normally I love it when boys cry. But there still has to be a limit, otherwise it can become wussy. I’ve also heard that he’s pretty useless throughout his time on the show, needing to be rescued on several different occasions. I’m only saying this based on what I’ve heard, I do not know if this is actually accurate as I refuse to lose brain cells watching this show. But the fact that my aunt (whom I love and trust) even recommended this character for this list AND that there’s a lot of videos bashing this character, probably means he’s a good contender.

#7: Christy Plunkett- Mom

Look, I know Christy is a recovering alcoholic, and I won’t deny that she has come a very long way. But watching her during Mom’s early years was just sad. It’s mainly her attempts to keep her family together and get back into the dating game (without getting drunk) that gives her a pathetic vibe. And the worst part about this is that most of the time, it’s not even her fault. There are a few exceptions of her screwing herself over (gambling addiction and her overall controlling nature), but most of the time she is trying to better herself. With that being said, it’s kind of sad that Bonnie has better chances at getting dates and keeping a stable relationship (just barely) than her daughter. Christy has probably grown the most out of all these characters, but I will admit that I put her this high due to me finding her slightly annoying.

#6: Arwin Hawkhauser- The Suite Life Of Zach & Cody

There are several strange characters in The Suite Life series, but none worse than Arwin. There’s a lot of things very wrong with Arwin. Almost every episode we’ve seen him in (Suit Life On Deck included), he’s making some of the dumbest inventions that go wrong in the worst way possible. He also obviously has an unreciprocated crush on Carey, who’s clearly out of his league. But the thing that signifies Arwin’s status as pathetic, is his disturbing attachment to his mother. Even she seems to have a life outside of living with her son as she eventually got married and moved out. Like I said, Suite Life has several odd characters, Esteban’s too attached to his pet chicken, Mr. Moseby's life is literally the Tipton, Lance is water obsessed, Woody’s….Woody, and don’t get me started on London. But regardless, Arwin is the craziest of them all.

#5: Freddie Benson- ICarly

Freddie is another character on this list whose pathetic status is mostly not his fault. Sam and his INSANE mother are normally the ones who cause Freddie so much misfortune. Sam obviously bullies and belittles him (with Carly barely doing anything except every once in a while) and his mother is SEVERELY overprotective of him to the point where she had a chip surgically attached to his head. Adding insult to injury, by the time we get to the revival, Freddie has been divorced twice and has a failed start-up. As if the show did not dump on Freddie enough. Thankfully however, he does grow out of his pathetic status and even gets the girl of his dreams. Did not see that coming, but I’m happy for him and Carly. Sucks that the revival got cancelled and we couldn’t see more. Oh well.

#4: Jamie Dutton- Yellowstone

My parents are probably Yellowstone’s biggest fans, and both of them pretty much frown upon Jamie Dutton’s existence. It is to my understanding that he is kind of a punching bag for the Duttons and that he constantly makes the mistake of challenging them. I’m also aware that he and Beth are constantly at each other’s throats. My parents can probably better explain Jamie’s situation, but that was the impression I received from them and their lack of respect for Jamie is enough for me to place him on this list. Adding to that, Beth and Rip end up killing the loser on the last episode. So this might be an accurate placement. Him and my next pick would get along very well considering they are both losers with a complicated dynamic towards their respective families. With that being said, my next pick is even worse.

#3: Kendall Roy- Succession

L To The O G’, more like Oh To The HELL NO! Kendall is probably one of the biggest losers I have ever witnessed onscreen. Constantly trying to challenge his father (whom I admit is a jerk), only to either do something incredibly stupid (Example: car accident in season 1), or get outsmarted by someone smarter than him. Literally every time this sorry excuse of a man was onscreen, I either got second hand embarrassment or I wanted to slap him. Don’t get me wrong, Roman is even dumber. But at least I saw growth in him by the end of the series. Every time Kendall seemed like he was about to grow, he reverted right back to his immature attitude. I am so glad this fool did not become CEO. My parents are also fans of Succession, and they also frown upon Kendall, but worse. He’s an IDIOT. He was born that way, and he will die that way.

#2: Christine Campbell- The New Adventures Of Old Christine

Does Julie Louis-Dreyfus like to annoy me, because I despised her on Thunderbolts. She’s definitely more likable on The New Adventures Of Old Christine, but that’s not saying much. That show is HILARIOUS by the way and underrated in my opinion. Watching this self-centered piece of work is exhausting. Embarrassing herself throughout a good majority of the show, this woman is the definition of pathetic. It also does not help that she’s extremely selfish and has little to no regard to others feelings or well-being. So in a way, her constant misfortune is poetic justice. I do not despise Christine, but good lord she needs to get over herself. She probably would’ve topped the list if my next pick did not have to suffer onscreen even longer. But kudos to Dreyfus for managing to annoy me twice on both the big and small screen.

It's time for some honorable mentions................................

Joey Gladstone-Full House  C.C. Babcock- The Nanny

-Another suggestion from my aunt                                 -I blame Niles

 Carl McMillan- Mike & Molly

-This guy's a moron

#1: Alan Harper- Two & A Half Men

This poor poor man. I feel like Alan was a walking punching bag since the day Two & A Half Men premiered. It’s like either Chuck Lorre or the entire planet (including his own mother) was out to get this man simply for existing. Two divorces, a failed business, constant abuse and neglect from his mother and brother, Alan just could not catch a break. He literally tried to kill himself in season 9, his life sucked THAT BAD! I feel genuinely sorry for Alan, he keeps trying to do good only for the world to keep beating him to a pulp. All of these characters have their issues, but Alan just simply can’t win no matter what he does. He is in my opinion the most unfortunate and pathetic TV character I have ever witnessed, and he has my deepest sympathy. I blame his mother for him turning out so sad, she sucks.

First Day Of 2024/2025 Awards Race

It is about that time of year again where Hollywood gives out its most prestigious awards to most of the time the least deserving. But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna pay attention like always. But this year we will be shaking things up a little. Allow me to explain; Here's How This Works: Each year, I will have a target subject I'm rooting for this season. When the nominations for each award show are announced, I will do a small commentary on whether or not the subject has a chance of winning. However, this year instead of focusing on just the target, I will also be focusing on those I think are frontrunners in different categories for the season as a whole, whether I'm rooting for them or not.  I will most likely say a last minute thought the day before the award show. I will be tracking down all the way up to the big dogs: THE OSCARS. The Awards: We will be focusing on 5 awards; -The Golden Globes -The BAFTA's -The Critics Choice -The SAG Awards and Of Cour...

Red One & The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

I present to you, a Christmas Double Review. Red One centers on The Rock and Captain America trying to find J.K. Simmons (Santa) after he's been kidnapped. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever  is obviously based on the book of the same name and of course involves throwing a Christmas pageant with some of the worst kids in existence.  Red One This was a very strange movie. I don't hate it as much as others do, but I see why people hate it. I will admit there were some parts that were a little too ridiculous and I didn't laugh as much as I would've liked. Also, with all due respect to Kiernan Shipka, she was not a good casting for the main villain. Her performance just didn't work for me. She wasn't intimidating at all, and she still looks like a child. I'm sorry but I just could not take her seriously. But I also feel it had some heartwarming moments as well, particularly involving Chris Evans' character and his son. I wouldn't say this movie was good, bu...
