So What's The Problem

So if you remember earlier this year, I gave the first Wicked the top spot on my list of favorite movies from last year. Fast-forward 11 months later and its position has been deducted (I'll explain next month), but I was still looking forward to part-2. Obviously this is act 2 of the musical, which shows the aftermath of Elphaba's escape and the arrival of Dorothy.

It is to my understanding that critics are relatively divisive on this movie and I'm not really sure why (me disliking the actresses doesn't count). I will admit that the first one was better, but not due to lack of quality on the sequel's part. Not only is the first one more flashy, but it has the more popular (no pun intended) songs. Yes songs like No Good Deed and the titular For Good both have a strong presence, but the stronger songs are in act 1. So that's part of the reason why this movie felt mellow for me in comparison to the first. This is not a flaw, just an acknowledgement.

With that being said, I'm not really sure why this is frowned upon by critics. One suspicion I have though is probably the love pentagon that was happening throughout the movie. But I personally did not take issue with that considering it's literally in the original musical. Like the first movie, this one remained faithful to the musical with small altercations (original songs included).  The movie in my opinion did exactly what it was supposed to do and I did not see anything lacking in terms of quality.

I will go ahead and admit that this movie will most likely not make my  end of the year list unlike the first one, but I personally do not understand what the issue is with the critics. Thank For Reading.

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
