Light Of The World: Why It's Superior Over King Of Kings

One thing to really appreciate about this year is the amount of projects about Jesus being released (aside from The Chosenand receiving attention. Though I will also admit that the results of the projects in my opinion were mixed, these 2 films are on the positive side. With that being said, I was slightly underwhelmed by King Of Kings and I'll explain why later. Light Of The World is another animated Jesus movie that was released last Friday and It focuses on an adolescent John's perspective of Jesus' story.

There are several reasons why this is the better Jesus movie, the most obvious being the animation style. I did state in KOK's review my dissatisfaction with its animation. It is way too cookie-cutter and bland. The designs of several characters were also relatively cheap looking. LOTW's animation isn't groundbreaking, but it is endearing. This animation style has a natural fluidity to it that works very well with the story. The character designs aren't amazing either, but each design fits well with its character. John is a more likable protagonist than Walter Dickens. It's not because he's a biblical figure, but because he was portrayed as a kid conflicted with his faith (which a lot of people including myself can relate) while Dickens is just a spoiled brat. Obviously John being a child is most likely not accurate, but it's not like this an offensive re-imagining.

LOTW also has a more human portrayal of Jesus. I did not mention this in KOK's review, but its portrayal was relatively robotic. Though respectful, the movie mainly focused on Jesus as a healer and of course the Son Of God. This obviously isn't a problem, but there was little to no focus on Jesus as a human, when He's being silly and a regular person even though He's NOT a regular person. LOTW balanced those aspects of who Jesus is very well, giving each aspect of Jesus' personality equal attention. I really appreciated that.

LOTW was kind of the Jesus movie I wanted. It's not perfect but I will gladly take it and cherish it. Thanks For Reading

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
