Sketch was actually released last year at a festival, however it was officially released to theaters last Wednesday. From the same studio behind Sound Of Freedom, the film centers on the Wyatt family. The family recently lost the mom and the daughter of the family releases her anger by drawing disturbing pictures (particularly monsters) in her sketchbook. Meanwhile, her brother finds a magical river near their home and accidentally drops the book in the river. As a result, all the monsters the little girl created come to life and starts attacking people.
This is probably the most creative movie I've seen this year. It truly embodies how powerful your imagination can be as well as the effects of not properly coping with tragedy. Grief has always been an intriguing subject for me due me being curious about the intensity of it. I like that the visuals didn’t go out of its way to make the monsters look extremely realistic. Simply adapting the sketches as they are was more effective, especially with the themes the film was addressing. My only flaw with the movie is that the dad (Tony Hale’s character) wasn’t involved in a lot of the action scenes.
But other than that, the movie was really good. Thanks For Reading.
