I Would Be Lying If I Said "I Didn't Like It"

Look, a remake to an animated movie that's only 15 years old is a really stupid idea. Adding to that, I'm not even that big a fan of HTTYD. But I do respect the franchise (plus the second installment is FANTASTIC). And I'm curious to see if this crashes, so of course I'm gonna see it. The plot is pretty much the same as the original; nerdy teenage Viking shoots down dragon, unable to kill dragon, him and dragon become friends.

As dumb as it is to make a HTTYD remake so soon (or at all), I would be lying if I said I didn't like this film. The movie was actually pretty good. Not great and clearly not better than the original (which I did rewatch recently), but still decent enough for me. Granted, its biggest strength is also its biggest flaw. It's obvious how much this film respects the original, especially considering this film has the same director for the original franchise as well as Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick (RIP). However, it's also a literal direct copy of the original. It's good that the movie didn't try to change things from the original in an attempt to be "relevant" like Disney constantly does, however the film being a direct copy makes it super pointless for a remake to even exist.

The visuals were fantastic, especially in Toothless' case. The film did manage to successfully adapt Toothless, a creature who is deadly when he has to be, but adorable when he wants to be. The actors were fine enough for me, Butler was the best out of all or them for obvious reasons.

I am curious to see how the sequel (which is set for 2027) is interpreted, mainly because Stoick dies in the sequel. The movie really needs to NAIL that scene. Thanks For Reading.

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
