Painful As Hell😣

Jack Quaid seems to be having a very good year as I just watched him be a total douche in Companion, and now he's the hero for this. Novocaine centers on Nathan Caine, a relatively pathetic bank executive who lives a sheltered life due to his inability to feel pain. That all changes when he meets Sherry, who gives him a little taste of life before being held hostage during a bank robbery. So Mr. Novocaine decides to take it upon himself to save his girlfriend, and it is a very painful experience.

I'll tell you what, Mr. Quaid may not have felt a thing throughout this movie, but I sure as Hell did. The injuries they put this man through were absolutely ridiculous. It got to the point where it physically hurt just watching this. Basically, I was hurting for him since he can't feel anything (physically, not emotionally). I wish I could go into the details, but technically speaking that's spoiling the movie. With that being said, that doesn't mean the movie was bad, it's actually very good. The film's painful nature is what makes it stand out and resulted in some incredible action sequences. Yes they are very unsettling to watch, but for that same reason you can't really look away either.

Ironically after despising him in Companion, I wanted to give Quaid a hug in this. Not just because of his EXTREMELY bad injuries, but because his character was genuinely likable. Nathan was a total sweetheart, and too innocent to be involved in this situation in the first place. But his girl was in trouble, and was willing to go through Hell and high water for her. It's easy to root for him and that's pretty much owed to Quaid's versatility. The love story between Nathan and Sherry was really sweet (and slightly heartbreaking) and there was also a relatively sweet development between Quaid and Jacob Batalon's character.

This movie has nepotism written all over it as in addition to Dennis and Meg's offspring, Jack Nicholson's son Ray is also starring as the bad guy. 1; he is the spitting image of his father. 2; he was a JERK in this. In other words, he also did a good job. I wouldn't have wanted someone to run him over with a car if he didn't.

By The Way: There's a twist involving Sherry. You have been warned

Novocaine was a fun and agonizing ride. I highly recommend it. Thanks For Reading

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
