Wolf Man Didn't Completely Work

So when I saw the trailers for Wolf Man, I personally thought it looked somewhat promising. Then I saw the reviews, and was disheartened. I was hoping that maybe critics were being too harsh (several of them are) and just decided to see for myself regardless. The movie obviously centered on a man who got scratched by a were-wolf and slowly began turning into one himself, which unfortunately placed his wife and daughter in danger.

I understand what the movie was trying to do as It mainly focuses on the transformation. I think it was attempting to go to a direction similar to The Fly. Unfortunately, it didn't completely work. The problem was that the pacing was so slow to the point where there was a minimal amount of scares in the movie. The dialogue was also an issue. It did not feel natural, it felt very forced and even got slightly cheesy at times.

In terms of the positives, the acting was very good. Christopher Abbott was a very good Wolfman. His acting was convincing, the character himself was likeable, and you felt genuinely sorry for him as he transformed. The writing wasn't completely bad, there were actually moments where it was relatively strong. Mainly involving the dynamic between both parents and their daughter. The relationship between the titular character and the daughter was easily the best part of the movie, but I also enjoyed how at first Julie Garner's character didn't have much of a relationship with her daughter. But as her husband slowly began to lose it, she started to take the lead. I do feel there could've been a little bit more development in terms of Garner's lack of a relationship with her daughter, but it was still surprisingly a smooth transition for her character. There was also somewhat of a twist in the movie that I liked as well.

Overall, the movie wasn't terrible. But I really wish it was better than this, especially with the positives that I've listed. Can you imagine what an amazing movie it would've been had it been made correctly? Oh well. Thanks For Reading

Introduction

Bio My name is Naomi Marie Elidios Chadwick. I was born in San Diego, California, but I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I pretty much have a traditional family, which involves happily married parents, 1 younger sister, and an older brother. I was raised Christian, and I continue to practice Christianity to this day. This is not a spiritual blog but some of the content that I post is influenced by my faith. Every now and then I will post Christian content as well, just not always (except with Billboard ). The picture you see up above is me at the airport with my father after I graduated from AmeriCorps NCCC after 10 months of community service. In response I received a congressional award for community service. I've always been really proud of that. I was diagnosed with Asperger's (a form of Autism) around the age of 6, but I was not informed of my diagnosis until I was 12. I'm very into movies and television (animation especially), and pop culture as a whole, and I...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
