First Day Of 2024/2025 Awards Race

It is about that time of year again where Hollywood gives out its most prestigious awards to most of the time the least deserving. But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna pay attention like always. But this year we will be shaking things up a little. Allow me to explain;

Here's How This Works: Each year, I will have a target subject I'm rooting for this season. When the nominations for each award show are announced, I will do a small commentary on whether or not the subject has a chance of winning. However, this year instead of focusing on just the target, I will also be focusing on those I think are frontrunners in different categories for the season as a whole, whether I'm rooting for them or not. I will most likely say a last minute thought the day before the award show. I will be tracking down all the way up to the big dogs: THE OSCARS.

The Awards:

We will be focusing on 5 awards;

-The Golden Globes
-The BAFTA's
-The Critics Choice
-The SAG Awards

and Of Course

-The Oscars

The Target

The targets will be a movie or an actor/actress that I'm rooting for this season. The subject doing well some-what depends on the success of the movie. So it is possible for me to think the subject will do poorly, but I will root for it either way.

This Year's Subject:

Denzel Washington

Like I said in my review, My family is probably Washington's biggest fans. It was no surprise that he killed it in Gladiator 2, so I might as well make him my target for this year. Also, he loves Jesus and is unashamed so he gets extra points for that. Do I believe he'll win, probably not. But I will say that I'm not even sure if he cares at this point considering that if he does get a nomination this year, it will be his millionth (11th). And if he wins, it'll be his 3rd. Why I believe he'll probably lose, I'll explain down below.

Frontrunners;

In addition to the target, I will also be tracking those whom I think (or at least aware of) are frontrunners for this years' race from now on. I will be speaking on different categories. Me speaking on these subjects does not mean I'm rooting for them or even like them. It just means that I acknowledge the chances each subject has at winning

Golden Globe Results & Thoughts

Not really too much surprises except one; neither Villeneuve or Chu got nominations. Expected them to get nominations due to the hype surrounding both movies (which did get nominations themselves). But I guess one thing that hurt Villenuve's chances of getting nominated is that he was already nominated for the first Dune. With Chu, I'm not sure what happened. Denzel did get his nomination, but I do think he's gonna lose to Culkin. By the way; shout out to Glen Powell on his nomination.

That's it for now. We will return on Thursday for Critics Choice. Thanks For Reading.

American Idol 2025 Thoughts: Day 1

  American Idol  has officially reached its live shows so that means it's time to start the commentaries. For those of you who didn't track these last year, here's an explanation; I will be saying my thoughts on the contestants and their performances. In typical 'me' fashion, I will rank each performance to #1. But unlike my normal lists, this will be from worst to best.  This will be starting the following week as today is just an introduction. Our Top 24 has been chosen and they are as follows;     Canaan James Hill (Platinum)             Gabby Simone  Zaylie Windsor                         Mattie Pruitt  Thunderstorm Artis                  Drew Ryn  Che                                     ...

American Idol 2025 Day 2: Top 24

  I would like to say that for the first week of live shows, a good majority of contestants either did REALLY good or better than they should have. I personally was very impressed with the last 2 days. With that being said, I still gotta rank. Today I will be ranking every single performance from worst to best. This ranking is solely based on my opinion. If you have not read last week's introduction, I highly suggest you read that first before this ranking;   Worst Performance Of The Week:  Baylee Littrell Happy - Pharrell This really kills me. Not sure what he was thinking with this song choice #23: Josh King I'm Still Standing - Elton John Him and Baylee equally sucked. But at least this song was more in Josh's league #22: Olivier Bergeron   I'm Not Okay - Jelly Roll He's kind of bland to me #21: Desmond Roberts Do I Do - Stevie Wonder Needs to calm down a little #20: John Foster Callin' Baton Rouge - Various Also kind of bland #19: Kyana Fanene I Am - St...

Last Minute Music Reviews

  So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...
