That Was Absolutely Disgusting! 🤢🤮

So for anyone who hasn't read my Big Releases Of August post, I mentioned that I watched the first 2 Alien movies for the first time just a month prior and I loved them. With that being said, I initially had no intention of seeing Alien: Romulus due to being aware of the franchises' deterioration since the second movie (I'm also aware that the newer movies do have supporters). Then of course I saw the trailer for it and I was intrigued. Obviously a group of idiots decide to go to space and encounter the universe's ugliest creature; the Xenomorph.

Now the movie wastes no time paying tribute to the original, which is good considering most remakes or sequels nowadays want to disrespect its original. For this movie, that's both a strength and a weakness. I liked how a few lines were callbacks to the first movie and even had some music from the first movie. The characters aren't super memorable but they do have their moments. I liked Andy, thought he was adorable and likeable enough. And while his arch wasn't perfect, it was relatively well done and understandable. Rain is no Ripley, but she's got chutzpah. Kay isn't relatively interesting aside from the fact that she's pregnant. Personally I thought that there was no reason for her to be pregnant, that is until the end of the movie (more on that later).

The visuals of this movie were absolutely gorgeous, possibly the best visuals I've seen all year (coming from someone who hasn't seen Dune: Part Two, but I will eventually). The score was also beautiful and I don't normally pay attention to score, but the music of this (when it's its own movie) was intriguing and so majestic that I couldn't help but pay attention. And lastly the action was really good. One of the scenes was obviously a callback to Aliens despite the movie taking place between Alien and Aliens. But the action sequences combined with the visuals equaled cinema gold, it was incredible.

Now the negatives. As I mentioned earlier, paying tribute to the original was both a strength and a weakness. It did reach a point where the movie tried a little too hard to pay tribute to  the original. The biggest example of this being having Ash from the original movie serve as the villain aside from the xenomorph. I'm not sure why Fede Álvarez (the director, who also wrote the film) felt he needed to do that especially considering that the original actor (Ian Holm) is dead. His face was digitally added, which was problematic and kind of creepy despite the character being an android. There are a lot of complaints that the film took a little too long to get into the action. Personally, I bluff at that. Initially because that was the case with the original movie as it was its way of building up the suspense, and it payed off beautifully. This one I thought got into the action slightly too quickly. The pacing from the start of the movie in my opinion was a little too fast. Not to the point where it damaged the movie as it did eventually slow down. But it's still an issue.

Then there's that ugly twist at the end of the movie, which obviously I can't get into too much detail due to spoilers. But I will tell you this, It was DISGUSTING! It was also the reason why Kay was pregnant. This is pretty much what made the movie, and it definitely stayed true to the spirit of the franchise while also adding something new (and arguably even worse than the original monster). This twist payed off fantastically. It was gross as Hell, but I respect it.

This movie is not perfect, but it is very good. If any pregnant ladies happens to stumble upon this post or the TikTok version, I can't stress this enough; DO NOT GO TO SPACE WHILE YOU'RE PREGNANT! Thanks For Reading.

American Idol  has officially reached its live shows so that means it's time to start the commentaries. For those of you who didn't track these last year, here's an explanation; I will be saying my thoughts on the contestants and their performances. In typical 'me' fashion, I will rank each performance to #1. But unlike my normal lists, this will be from worst to best.  This will be starting the following week as today is just an introduction. Introduction

Bio My name is Naomi Marie Elidios Chadwick. I was born in San Diego, California, but I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I pretty much have a traditional family, which involves happily married parents, 1 younger sister, and an older brother. I was raised Christian, and I continue to practice Christianity to this day. This is not a spiritual blog but some of the content that I post is influenced by my faith. Every now and then I will post Christian content as well, just not always (except with Billboard ). The picture you see up above is me at the airport with my father after I graduated from AmeriCorps NCCC after 10 months of community service. In response I received a congressional award for community service. I've always been really proud of that. I was diagnosed with Asperger's (a form of Autism) around the age of 6, but I was not informed of my diagnosis until I was 12. I'm very into movies and television (animation especially), and pop culture as a whole, and I...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
