Dìdi Review

To be honest, I didn't really hear much about this movie aside from seeing the trailer for it earlier this year. I thought it looked cute (sort of) so I gave it a shoot. The movie focuses on a Taiwanese-American teenage boy going through typical growing pains as well as his complicated relationship with his mother.

The movie was really sweet, and considering it was set in 2008 this was also the most nostalgic film I've seen all year. The dynamic between the Wangs is easily the best and most intriguing part of the movie as every single moment between them felt incredibly real. Starting with the boy and his sister; I like how their dynamic begins with them constantly bickering (our protagonist did some of the dumbest things to piss her off). But when the sister (who's about to go to college) notices life getting a little too hard for her brother, she's more kinder and nurturing towards him. It was very realistic in terms of siblings in general. Our protagonist himself did a lot of stupid stuff and there were times where he was a brat. But the movie made it clear that at the end of the day, he's still just a kid and is bound to make dumb decisions. Most of the time he doesn't even mean to, he just wants to be liked. Literally every person on the planet has been in that position, sometimes it even continues onto adulthood. It didn't justify him being a brat, but made us relate to why he behaves the way he does. I felt horrible for him multiple times throughout the movie.

I also felt horrible for his mother. It's bad enough her son's got a big mouth, but she's also constantly being criticized by her mother-in-law. You can genuinely feel that she's trying so hard to do the best she can for her family and seeing her get so little in return can be frustrating. As I mentioned in the opening paragraph, she has a complicated relationship with her son. But she loved him the best way she knew how. And though her son didn't often appreciate it, the 2 had some genuinely sweet and tender moments.

This movie was both hilarious and touching. I wish it the best. Thanks For Reading.

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
