A Very Despicable Review

Finally saw Despicable Me 4, as an early birthday present for my aunt (the franchise's biggest fan). This time, Gru and his family (now including newborn baby Gru Jr.) are on the run and in hiding after Gru has his old nemesis Maxime Le Mal arrested. Unfortunately for him, Maxime escaped. Gru is also having issues with his new baby and neighbor while the AVL had the bright idea of turning the minions into superheroes. 🤦🏾‍♀️

The movie was pretty much what you'd expect from Despicable Me. It was indeed funny and enjoyable for family entertainment, however it was also the weakest of the four main movies. And as I mentioned in the July Releases post, they're squeezing the life out of this franchise and I'm not sure how much more they can do with these characters. The writing wasn't the strongest, there was actually a plotline involving Agnes that never got resolved. The minions like always were the funniest part of the movie. Who needs the Avengers when you've got the Megaminions (she said sarcastically😒)? Seriously, What The Hell was the AVL thinking? I also liked the storyline between Gru and Gru Jr., he was a BAD BABY. It's not a super strong arch but it was still sweet. Poppy was fine, that's it. As for her parents; dad doesn't wanna be bothered while mom disturbingly reminds me of a certain group of people I would rather not disclose on this blog.

Maxime was fine, but at this point they've got way too many villains in the franchise and Maxime is easily the least memorable of the villains (his odd obsession with cockroaches is also concerning🤢). However, all the villains throughout the franchise did make a cameo and I LOVED IT!  If they do a fifth movie, not only do I suggest they make it the last, but also either have one of the past villains (most likely Vector) come back for revenge against Gru, or have all the villains he's faced band together and go after him.

That's pretty much it to be honest. Thanks for reading.

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
