Super Mario Bros

My sister talked me into watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie on Peacock. It of course centers on Italian American plumber Mario, who along with his brother are transported to another world. When Luigi finds himself at the mercy of Bowser, Mario turns to Princess Peach for help in battling Bowser and saving his brother.

This movie was absolutely ridiculous, but in a good way. From a personal standpoint: I really enjoyed this movie. One of it's strong points to my surprise is the film's animation. While not amazing, it is very clean and crisp, with the rainbow bridge scene being the best of the film. While the voice acting was decent, I'll only call out Chris Pratt (whom I ADORE), and Jack Black. Yes there was a lot of controversy involving Pratt's casting, but I was very impressed at how well he was able to change his voice for Mario. Say what you want about Pratt, but I thought he did great in this movie. Jack Black was hilarious as always. There is no denying that he really got into the role of Bowser (maybe a little too much). And lastly, the music featured in the movie is surprisingly very well balanced and work with the movie very well. And of course I can't bring up the music of the film without mentioning Peaches, which is HILARIOUS, and Jack Black at his best.

Now, from a critical standpoint: the pacing needed A LOT of work. A majority of the pacing in this movie felt very rushed. Not more rushed than Wish, but still rushed. Some of the characters have issues as well. While I liked most of the characters, some have little development while others had nothing to do. One example of characters who needed more development was Princess Peach. I liked her, but they went into this arch where she reveals that she has no idea where she came from, having appeared in the mushroom kingdom as a baby and they never resolved that. If they were saving that for a sequel, fine. But a sequel hasn't been confirmed yet. In fact, development for a sequel was delayed due to the now no longer active strike. They could've resolved it by leaving a small clue of her origins at the end of the movie. An example of a character who was pretty useless was Toad. Toad was dominant in the beginning of the movie, but as we got deeper, I feel like he had little to do. And what's even worse about that is that he's a major character in the games, and yet the writers had little for him to do in this movie

Though I do recommend this movie. If you're looking for a good time with your family, then this is the movie for you. But if you're looking for something deeper, don't watch it. Thanks For Reading.

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
