Napoleon Was............. Odd

My aunt and I saw Ridley Scott's newest film Napoleon last Friday. Obviously it centers on Napoleon Bonaparte, particularly his rise to power and his TERRIBLE relationship with his wife Josephine. That's pretty much all there is to it.

This movie had absolutely no reason for it's existence. There's always a point to a biopic (and to movies as a whole), but this one is just, here. We're they trying to humanize Bonaparte, we're they trying to show what a psychopath he was, what was the purpose of this movie? This blockbuster was clearly made for the sake of having a blockbuster about Napoleon in Hollywood. You can immediately tell by it's writing.

Don't get me wrong, the movie's not completely bad. The performances were great. But let's be honest, Joaquin Phoenix is incapable of doing a bad performance. Vanessa Kirby also did great, and her and Joaquin work very well together. As I mentioned earlier, Napoleon and Josephine had a TERRIBLE relationship, and the movie wasted no time showcasing that. Phoenix and Kirby did a great job portraying the weird type of love they had for each other, but still made it clear that they brought out the WORST in each other. The sex scenes however were unnecessary.

The war sequences are hands down the best thing about the movie. They were extremely well filmed and had me exhilarated every time. The only bad thing about them is that they were part of a lackluster movie. Those sequences were too good for this movie and It sucks that they were kind of wasted for this.

Overall this movie is just, nothing. It's far from bad, but that's as far as it gets. Thanks For Reading

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
