I only recently started seeing commercials for this movie. At first it looked interesting, until I read the actual plot. It doesn't sound bad, just weird for my taste. I don't know if I'm gonna see it, and I need to figure that out before Friday. Critics are eating it up right now, particularly Emma Stone. But I don't know where it stands in terms of it's box-office.
I've only ever seen trailers for Wonka on TV. I wouldn't say it looks amazing, but it definitely looks whimsical enough for a Roald Dahl movie. I'm kind of mixed on whether or not I wanna see it, which says a lot as I have a HUGE soft spot for the original Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. So far, there seems to be relatively decent reviews, but not perfect. And considering pretty no one asked for this remake, I'm not exactly sure how it will do in the box office. Not that I think it will bomb, but at the same time, it's hard to say.
I saw several TV commercials for this one. It doesn't look like anything special and I don't care enough to see it. But one thing that is ridiculous is that this comes out the same day as Aquaman and It may possibly do better than Aquaman. MIGHT, I'm only saying that because Aquaman has a lot going against it, were as this one, not so much aside from being the product of an animation studio with a reputation for producing family-friendly but mediocre movies (and also kicked butt this year with Super Mario Bros.). Overall, I see this doing okay at the box-office, not so much with critics.
I saw a trailer for this when I saw The Holdovers. It looked pretty good, but I'm kind of mixed on seeing it for personal reasons. I like the original one, but it does annoy me at times. And I told myself that I would not see it unless a family member wants to see it. I see critics loving this movie, but for stupid reasons. I don't know where it lands when it comes to box-office. It'll probably do decently, just not great.
The only other release I will call out is Renaissance, which came out last Friday. But the less I talk about Beyoncé, the better. Thanks For Reading.
