This Week's Billboard

We have made it to the second week of billboard Charts commentary. For those of you who have not read last week's post, I've decided to start posting commentaries on each week's #1 of the billboard Hot 100. I will also be speaking on the #1 of the Christian charts. For those of you who did read last week's post, you saw that I did not speak on last week's Christian #1 due to my dislike for the artist. However, I will be speaking on Christian's #1 this time.

Paint The Town Red- Doja Cat

Honestly, I'm surprised that Doja was able to get a #1 considering her controversial online rants. I don't really care for the song. It's not horrible, but I'm not as into the melody as I was with last week's. It is hinted that the lyrics reference her online comments, but I don't think that was confirmed. Other than this, I don't really have much to say about the song. Hopefully Dionne Warwick appreciated being sampled in this.

 Holy Forever- Chris Tomlin

I don't really care for this one either. It's fine enough to worship to, which is probably the best thing about the song. But other than that, I don't really love this song. Speaking as a Christian, the message is good. Not that I'm trying to force my beliefs on anyone OR minimize my faith in any way, but I don't see this song as having enough of an impact to really move people who are outside of Christian music. And this is coming from someone who is very familiar with Chris Tomlin. But it also doesn't help that I was predominantly raised in Gospel (there is a huge difference between Gospel and CCM).

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Y'all may or may not get a list later this week. Thanks for reading.

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
