Male TV friendships are not always called out in favor for female friendships, which is upsetting because there are a lot of notable male friendships on TV. This is a list of the best and most notable male TV friendships
#10: Dawson Leery & Pacey Witter- Dawson's Creek
So remember on my "TV Brothers'' list, I mentioned that Damon and Stefan are an example of why the phrase "Bros Before Hoes" exists? Dawson and Pacey are another good example, except they came first. These 2 both had the hots for Joey. And while Joey initially dated Dawson at first, she ultimately realized that she preferred Pacey. Dawson and Pacey obviously have the most complicated relationship on this list. And I know that Dawson is not always the most likable person (despite his supposedly "nice guy" trope), but you gotta give the guy props for letting Joey go upon realizing her feelings for Pacey. That probably means that there's somewhat of a respect for her and love between him and Pacey.
If there's anyone perfect for dealing with Jake Peralta's ridiculous antics (aside from Amy to an extent), it's Charles. Charles basically kisses the ground that Jake walks on, which I personally find slightly disturbing. These 2 were so close that they have never had a single fight throughout the series and might be the only characters on this list with that achievement. They might have disagreements, but Charles would just give in to Jake's stupidity or just go along with it even though he knows whenever Jake is wrong as HELL (I just realized that might be Amy's job), so It never transitioned to a fight. Shout to Charles for having that maturity (I think).
There is no other group of nerds more perfect for each other than Abed and Troy. Abeb serves as the one with little to no emotion while Troy is the one with way too much emotion. This often leads to conflict between the 2 but they're quick to put it to the side, which probably serves as another testament to how close they really are. These 2 are the literal definition of a bromance as it has gotten to the point where they behave more like a married couple than actual BFFs. It's both adorable and slightly disturbing. But you can't help but love them and their adorkable nature. In the end, Abed and Troy are just 2 cinnamon buns too precious for this world (coming from someone who despises Donald Glover).
J.D. and Turk were initially roommates during their time at the College Of William & Mary and medical school. The 2 became close as a result even going into adult years. Their relationship was best described in the show's sixth season as "guy love". I feel like these 2 would be my last pick if they had some type of normal human behavior, though I will note that these 2 often behave like a married couple as well to the point where Carla (Turk’s wife) refers to J.D. as Turks “Boyfriend”. Personally I find that hilarious and I find these 2’s love for each other less concerning than the last pick. At least these 2 just seem to have a genuine care for one another whereas my last picks seem like they have an unhealthy obsession with each other. But then again, that’s just my personal opinion.
Schmidt has always been an odd character to me and here’s why. Due to his success in losing weight and becoming a marketing associate in an all-girl office, Schmidt has a tendency to be a bit of a jerk. He is a womanizer and does often say offensive things, hence the reason for the “douchebag” jar’s existence. So how the HELL is he a great friend towards Nick?! Not only is he always there when Nick needs him, but he seems to always know what to say to him. You know 2 people are close when they celebrate the anniversary of them living together, they plan their deaths together, and when one of them is genuinely frightened by his friend’s love for him. Someone’s gotta look out for Nick considering the man’s a hot mess. I just find it odd that Schmidt’s a jerk, but not enough of a jerk to treat Nick like trash. How is that even possible?
Where the HELL would Scott be without Stiles? These 2 were basically inseparable throughout most of the series. The socially awkward teen relies on his best friend in more ways than you can even imagine and Stiles is almost always ready when he needs him. Scott would need all that support after getting bit by a werewolf (later identified as Peter Hale) and turning into one himself. Every now and then these 2 would have their fallouts (most of them being Scott’s fault), but at the end of the day, they always came back to each other no matter what. I hope Scott knows how lucky he is, because not a lot of people are fortunate enough to find a friend as loyal as Stiles. Stiles is the type of person you should never let go of or take for granted (which unfortunately Scott often did).
So it’s obvious that all of the main characters are pretty close, but Joey and Chandler were a dynamic duo. These 2 are responsible for some of the best and funniest moments of the entire series. Whether they are in the middle of a stupid argument or Chandler is insulting Joey’s lack of intelligence, they are an absolute delight to watch. And (as the theme song states) they are always there for each other. These 2 are also probably the most iconic characters on this list (both in a good and an unnecessarily bad way), and the best part about that is that both Joey and Chandler are iconic individually (Chandler due to his remarks and Joey due to his stupidity) and together. This nearly resulted in them getting the top spot of the list. But you can’t help but laugh with these 2 whenever they’re on screen together. So for today, they’re runner-ups.
Cory and Shawn (especially Shawn) have been through A LOT together. Break-ups, make-ups, death, you name it. Some of the break-ups involved each other as these 2 have had some intense fights, one of the most notable being the one at Cory’s wedding. But when all is said and done, these 2 can never stay away from each other and find a way back. They were always there when they needed each other, especially Cory, whom Shawn is very lucky to have in his life. It is more than apparent that Cory and Shawn not only love each other, but they need each other. And we were right there with them as we watched them literally grow up in front of our eyes. Even into adulthood, their friendship is still strong as we see in “Girl Meets World”. It is also echoed through Cory’s daughter Riley and her best friend Maya (who would eventually become Shawn’s stepdaughter). No male friendship on television is stronger than this one, so they’re today’s #1.
