So this list is of memorable live-action television brothers. Their relationship does not have to be perfect, just memorable and some what realistic.
#10: Lucas and Nathan Scott- One Tree Hill
It’s normally the step or half brother types with a somewhat either toxic, strained or just difficult relationship. I don’t exactly know where Lucas and Nathan stand, but I will say their relationship is not perfect as the two also serve as rivals in basketball. It’s one thing to have a simple rival, but when the rival just so happens to be your sibling, that’s a whole other inconvenience. But I also think that these two have a respect for each other to an extent. Maybe it’s simply because they are siblings but, in the end, it is still there. And it’s safe to say they became more and more closer as the series progressed. It’s good to know that they’ll always have each other.
#9: Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows- Prison Break
Basically, the whole premise of ‘Prison Break’ revolves around Michael trying to break his brother out of jail after he’s wrongfully accused of assassinating the stepbrother of the vice president. Apparently, Michael felt guilty after Lincoln borrowed 90,000 $ to pay for his brother’s college education, which led to this situation in the first place as it turns out it wasn’t insurance related. Michael didn’t really need to take all that burden, but he did and that’s admirable. And he did it in creative (and odd) ways too. It definitely shows that they have some dedication to each other, which is very sweet. It got one of them sent to prison, but hey I’m not here to judge (sort of).
#8: Frasier and Niles Crane- Frasier
To me these 2 are a perfect example of smart but also stupid. I guess what I’m saying is that they’re not always people-smart. While it appears that Frasier got a good mix of both his parent’s background (though mostly his mom’s), his brother on the other hand seems to have only inherited his mother’s. Niles is more arrogant than our series protagonist and that provides a foil to Frasier’s issues as well. Also, their hilarious dog-eat-dog nature is a huge factor in they’re relationship. Despite this, they are very close to each other and it’s probably safe to say that in the end, there is nothing but love between the 2. That is basically every sibling relationship in a nutshell.
#7: Cory, Eric and Josh Matthews- Boy Meets World
Cory and Eric are pretty much your typical older and younger brother. Eric picks on Cory, Cory doesn’t like it, etc. Like a lot of siblings, the Matthews are total opposites. Cory is shown to be somewhat intelligent, while Eric is extremely stupid (but also the funniest character in the entire series). And they have had some intense moments at times, but pretty much every group of siblings have those moments. They fight, they do not speak for a while, and then they reconcile. Cory and Eric may have their moments, but in the end, they love each other, every now and then they will look out for each other, and they will always have each other. The Matthews Brothers are eventually given a new edition through Josh, whom Cory appeared to serve as a guidance to in the last episode.
#6: Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem Lyon- Empire
These 3 (especially Andre) have some serious issues, and most of them (if not all of them) are their father’s fault. Hakeem (the youngest) initially started off as a fame obsessed spoiled brat, Jamal (the middle) is the black sheep of the family, and Andre (the oldest) is actually the most accomplished but has severe mental problems due to his Bipolar Disorder. To be honest, most of the time these 3 are at odds with each other, especially Hakeem and Jamal. And most of the time when we see Andre he’s having a mental breakdown, so it's hard to think they would get along. But in the end they still come together. I don’t really know if it’s out of love, but in the end, who else is gonna wanna deal with these people. Lord knows I wouldn’t.
#5: Damon and Stefan Salvatore- The Vampire Diaries
There’s a reason why the phrase “Bros Before Hoes” exists. “The Vampire Diaries” is a good example of what happens when you let blind love get in the way of your relationships. Damon and Stefan completely turned against each other over a stupid girl. I’m kinda convinced that Katherine ruined their lives and that they’re at their worst when It comes to Katherine or Elena. But as time passes, they manage to mend their relationship, and it was beautiful to watch. The sweet moments they’ve had between each other should be cherished by all fans because after years of fighting over someone who isn’t even that great, it’s nice to see that the 2 were able to find a bond with each other. In the end, the most important relationship wasn’t Damon & Elena, it was Damon & Stefan.
#4: Charlie and Alan Harper- Two And A Half Men
Charlie & Alan are another pair of siblings that are total opposites. Charlie is a womanizing, arrogant, pig; while Alan is, well…..Alan. Alan is often the subject of abuse from his brother, which can damage pretty much anyone. Overall, Charlie does love his brother, he just doesn’t want to admit it. And to me that sounds pretty typical for sibling relationships as no matter how many times they pick on each other, they love each other. And Charlie does get punished for his behavior, mainly through dying and coming back as a female ghost. Of course then again, that wasn’t even the character’s fault. Though, what went on between Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre is really none of my concern.
#3: Arnold and Willis Jackson- Different Strokes
Now Arnold and Willis might be the most classic characters on this list, and for good reason. The 2’s lives turn around when their mother dies and they are adopted by a rich white man. Willis preferred his life in Harlem, while Arnold on the other hand liked his new life. Willis is a good combination of a rebel and responsible human being, while Arnold can be kinda self-centered (like most little boys). I don’t really know where these 2’s relationship stands, but I do know that they are hilarious to watch. To be honest, what mainly got these 2 on the list is Arnold’s catchphrase ‘Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?’. Absolute classic.
#2: Randall and Kevin Pearson- This Is Us
Now this next pick is kinda hard for me to talk about because I despise ‘This Is Us’ and I have a particular disliking towards Randall for my own personal reasons. However, I do believe that sometimes brotherhood/sisterhood is a bond thicker than water. Having someone who might not be related to you by blood or even adoption can mean more to someone than you might think. These 2 obviously aren’t blood related, but that doesn’t undermine the fact that they were raised in the same household by the same parents and neither are less family than the other. What mainly got them on the lists was the scene where Kevin rushed to Randall’s aid when life got a little too overwhelming for him. That was a very sweet moment. I am aware that the 2 reached a nasty place at some point in the series, but because I barely know what happened and I don’t want to start angrily ranting, I'll just leave it at that.
And like always, here are honorable mentions. And unlike the other lists, there's quite a few.......
Kevin & Wayne Arnold- Wonder Years
Zack & Cody Martin- The Suite Life
-Typical big & little brother -Suite Life fan for life
Drake Parker & Josh Nichols-Drake & Josh
Francis, Reese, Malcolm & Dewy-MITM
-These 2 are hilarious -Poor Malcolm
Finn Hudson & Kurt Hummel-Glee
Ray & Robert Boron- ELR
-These 2 had an awkward upbringing -These guys are idiots
#1: Sam and Dean Winchester-Supernatural
Minus the demon hunting and all the other weirdness, Sam and Dean are probably the biggest epitome of what it’s like to be a sibling. Like most siblings, they love to bicker with each other, they love to annoy one another, and they love to piss each other off. But under all the bickering, is a fierce and unbreakable loyalty to each other that is both sweet and heartbreaking to watch. These 2 have risked both literally Hell & high water for each other (especially Dean). In a way, they’re kind off all they have, which is probably another reason why they are so attached to each other. Sam and Dean are the perfect mix of all the good, the bad, and the ugly of having a sibling and you can’t get enough of the pure love that they have for one another. It is absolutely beautiful to watch, and that’s why they are #1.
So that's my list. My apologies that this looks a little different than the other lists, I'm still learning how to use blogger. Like always there's a google docs slideshow link down below. Thanks for reading
