First Day & Introduction Of Awards Race

Hello folks. So another thing I would like to do on this site is track down each important movie award show of the season, and like always express my thoughts.

Here's How This Works: The movie award season is football season to me. Each year I will have a target subject that I'm rooting for this season. When the nominations for the award show is released and I will say a little commentary on if the subject has a chance or not. If the subject is snubbed in that particular award show, it will be skipped. Most likely I will say a last minute thought the day before the award show. I will be tracking down the season all the way up to the big dogs: THE OSCARS.

The Awards

I will be focusing on 5 award shows:

-The Golden Globes
-The BAFTAs
-The Critics Choice
-The SAG Awards

and of course

-The Oscars

As mentioned earlier, if the target is snubbed, then the show will be skipped.

The Target

The target will normally be either a movie or an actor/actress that I'm rooting for through out the season. Depending on the success of the movie, it will depend on how I think the subject will do. So it is possible that I think the subject will not be as lucky during an award season, but I'll root for it either way.

My First Subject:

Austin Butler

Now Austin's my subject this year for obvious reasons. Like many 2000s kids, I grew up watching him. But unlike 2000s kids, I didn't think much of him at the time. All I knew was that he constantly played the cute love interest in almost every Disney Channel or Nickelodeon series (iCarly being my favorite of his appearances). And while I understood the attraction towards him, I just didn't care much for him. So if anyone told me the day I watched 'ILike Jake' for the first time that this dude would become Elvis, I would've laughed in their face. But it happened. And you know what, he did good. He did REALLY good. I know he worked really hard on this and you can definitely tell in the movie. And it truly payed off. I was very impressed. And I will admit that I now have a crush on him for a reason.

Do I see him winning the Oscar, I don't know. And I'm not trying to undermine his performance. The reason why I am so iffy about him winning is because of other competition, mainly Brendan Fraser for 'The Whale'. If the Oscars happened right around the time when 'Elvis' was released (almost 6 months ago), then it would be an easy win. And while Austin's hype and performance is still holding it's ground even today, Fraser's is pretty strong too. Austin has been doing pretty well in the awards department so far. So I'm not going to say he's gonna loose, but it's not a solid win either.

The only way to really know for sure is to see how he does in the major awards, with the first being the Golden Globes as the nominations were just released today.

Golden Globe Thoughts

So Austin did receive a drama nomination, which I pretty much expected. However, it is against Fraser. If Austin loses to Fraser, I will most likely assume that'll be the case for the Oscars, but that is not guaranteed. The same goes if it's the other way around, but we'll see what happens.

Feel free to write your thoughts down below, and I will see you in 2 days for the Critics Choice. Bye!

Last Minute Music Reviews

So here are some last minute reviews of songs that I've heard over the past few months that did not reach #1;   Where Is My Husband - Raye This is incredibly fun and strangely catchy. While this is not officially a jazz song, this obviously has jazz influence and it works very well for this song. I will go ahead and admit that this is my introduction to Raya, I have not listened to Oscar Winning Tears . So far, I'm intrigued.    Midnight Sun - Zara Larsson This song is kind of AWESOME. Not only is the production GORGEOUS, but it also has a very nice hook that goes smoothly with Larsson's voice. My sister actually recommended this song to me and I see why. Larsson does currently have a Grammy nomination for this. She's gonna lose, but I'm glad this song got recognized. If my sister see's this, thank you.   How It's Done - Huntrix (From KPop Demon Hunters ) I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I kept getting lazy. Like Golden , this song has g...

What The Hell Did I Even Watch!?!🤣

I think ever since Lady Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born , musicians have been trying to jump in on the band wagon. The Weekend is one of those musicians who's trying, and failing miserably. First he tried with The Idol , and we all saw how that crashed and burned. And now he decided to turn his newest album Hurry Up Tomorrow into a movie, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Oh yeah, Jenna Ortega and  Barry Keoghan are in this too.  The Weekend is obviously on this vendetta to prove to people that he can act, and it's getting kind of pathetic. The movie is just.....not good.  There's barely even a plot, it's just an elongated music video that involves The Weekend crying too much. Now, I will give him some credit for actually trying this time (unlike in The Idol ). But unfortunately, instead of coming off as a troubled musician, this felt like I was watching one of the 3-5 year-olds my mom deals with at her job. I'm aware that this movie was in...
